Resource summary
Teddy/Jenny Bear
Elderly Irish lady gave to my father (when he was a baby) - 58+ years ago
Passed down to Auntie (12 yrs younger) became 'Jenny'
Dad lived with mother, father, grandparents, uncle, Northern Irish family, moved to England
Lived in Birmingham for years, now in Ashmore Park w/ Aunt still
Was bright orange and was dressed by family in floaty pearly white dress - babies first dress
Stored in loft when kids got older, then took down and placed w/ other sentimental toys (preserved)
'gift-giving' item from neighbour became family pass down
Intended as a children's toy, & was used as such
After certain time wasnt given to kids to play with, kept safe instead
Good condition, colour faded slightly, no visible damage. Clothes added to it.
20th century item, definitely at least 58 yrs old - age of my father
Use to Historian: example of gift giving, to a kid/baby, in england by irish people
