Walden Chapter 9: The Ponds
Walden Pond is remarkable.
The pond is It is deep and pure, sometimes it is blue and sometimes green depending on the time of day.
Some animals found at the pond include ducks, frogs, muskrats, and turtles.
Thoreau often goes fishing in the pond at night with a companion.
One day Thoreau finds tracks around the pond which he believes were made by hunters.
In an old Native American legend, a hill sank and swallowed up a group of hunters except one named Walden.
The pond was named after that person.
Thoreau believes that pond should be named after their features like plants and animals.
Ponds with names after farmers/people are boring.
