Resource summary
Ethical and Cultural issues
Censorship and Surveillance are an example of ethical issues
Surveillance is watching what people are accessing to the internet
Censorship is restricting what people are allowed to access on the internet
The digital divide is created by the fact that some people have better technology than others
Urban areas have greater network coverage than others
Some people don't have enough money to buy new technology such as smart phones and laptops
Some of the older generations didn't grow up with technology and as a result, some people won't be able to use technology as effectively
Social media wants you to publicly post information about yourself and many websites require personal information to set up an account
Users will accept a privacy policy so they know how the data is used
Some websites won't allow you to use it unless you agree to the privacy policy and some people don't read it either
Data may be sold or shared to others as long as they stay within the privacy agreement
New technology and trends are constantly being made
This include new devices so parents feel pressured to buy their children them which tends to be overpriced
Trends such as selfies make people self obsessed which can harm their self confidence
