Development of Cancer
  1. Cancer=Uncontrolled cell division
    1. Two things have to happen
      1. The tumor suppressor gene is inactive (inactive tumor suppressor)
        1. Have to both be present in the same cell
          1. How does it become inactive?
            1. Both copies of the gene are mutated
            2. Tumor suppressor function=Slow down cell division, perform apoptosis
              1. Apoptosis= controlled cell death
            3. An oncogene is active (Active oncogene)
                1. How does it become active
                  1. Both copies of the gene are mutated
                    1. Could be one copy for an oncogene
                    2. A gene that can turn a cell into a tumor cell when active in the same cell as an inactive tumor suppressor gene
