Locomotion- Self-Propelled movement.
Action- language of locomotion to describe movement
Pathway- Language of locomotion to describe the direction of a movement
Level- Language of locomotion used to describe the height that a movement takes place
Effort- Language of Locomotion used to describe the intensity of a movement
Speed- Language of Locomotion used to describe the quickness of a movement
Sequence- Arrangement of a number of gymnastic techniques performed in succession
Balance- Ability to retain a centre of mass over a base of support
Arabesque- One point (foot) balance
V-Sit- One patch (bum) balance
Shoulder Stand- 3 patch (shoulder; arms x2) balance
Dish- One patch (back) balance
Rotation- The movement of the body around an axis
Longitudinal- The axis that runs down through the top of our head (pencil roll)
Transverse- The axis that runs through the side of your body at the hip (forward roll)
Medial- The axis that runs through the centre of the body belly button (cartwheel)
Flight When you are not in contact with the floor for a period of time
Hurdle-Step- Technique used for take off when using a spring bored or trampette in gymnastics
Aesthetically- Perform a skill/technique or sentence in a pleasing manner which is good to look at.
