Kindergarten Project: Spring Lemonade Stand

Learner Centered Ideology Contribution
1. What the students will do: In preparation for the real lemonade stand, the children will visit different centers in the classroom. Included will be books about lemonade stands, dramatic play opportunities to act out customers, math center with cash register to practice taking money, and a science center to explore real lemons.
2. Why this is important: Children can create meaningful experiences that will help them personally understand the lesson.
Social Efficiency Ideology Contribution
1. Why this is important: Children are honing skills they will use in real life.
2. What the students will do: The children use their computer and typing skills to make advertizing posters for the lemonade stand.
Social Reconstruction Ideology Contribution
1. What the students will do: After hosting the real lemonade stand, children will brainstorm places to donate their profits. After discussion of the merits/needs of each nomination, the students will make a final vote of where to donate the money.
2. Why this is important: Children are learning how they have the power to make positive change in their society.
Academic Scholar Ideology Contribution
1. What the students will do: Children will employ the scientific method to devise the best lemonade recipe
2. Why this is important: Children are advancing their science skills by acting like scientists.
