Jesus walked along Lake Galilee, and
spotted two fishermen, Simon and his
brother Andrew. They were catching
fish with a net. Jesus said, "Come with
me and I will teach you how to catch
people." At once they both left their
nets and followed Jesus. He walked
further and saw another pair of
brothers, James and John, sons of
Zebedee. As soon as he saw them,
Jesus called them. They left the boat
they were in and went with Jesus.
Mission of the 12 (Mk 6: 7-13)
Jesus sent out the twelve
disciples in pairs, and gave them
authority over evil spirits. He
said, "Don't take anything with
you on your journey except a
stick - no bread, no beggar's bag,
no money in your pockets. Wear
sandals, but do not carry an extra
shirt." He also said, "Stay
wherever you are welcomed. If
you come to a place where you
are not welcomed, leave and
shake the dust off your feet. Let
this be a warning to them!" So
they went out and preached and
turned people away from sin.
They drove out many demons
and rubbed olive oil on sick
people and healed them.
Cost of Discipleship (Mk 8: 34-38)
Jesus said "If anyone want to come with me,
they must forget self, carry his cross and follow
me. For whoever wants to save his own life will
lose it; but whoever loses his life for me and for
the gospel will save it. Do people gain anything
if they gain the whole world but lose their life?
Of course not! There is nothing they can give to
regain their life. If a person is ashamed of me
and of my teaching in this Godless and wicked
day, then the Son of Man will be ashamed of
him when he comes in the glory of his father
with the holy angels." And then he said, "i tell
you, there are some here who will not die until
they have seen the Kingdom of God come with
power."
Teaching on Service (Mk 10: 42-45)
Jesus said "If one of you wants to be
great, he must be servant of the rest;
and if one of you wants to be first, he
must be slave of all. For even the Son
of Man did not come to be served; he
came to serve and to give his life to
redeem many people."

The Rich Man (Mk 10: 17-31)
"Good Teacher, what must I do to recieve
ternal life?" Jesus replied "Why do you call
me good? Only God is good. You know the
commandments." The man said, "Teacher,
ever since I was young I have followed these
commandments.""Then you only need one
thing - sell all you have and give money to
the poor, and you will have riches in
heaven. The follow me." The man was very
sad because he was very rich, Jesus then
went on to say "How hard it is for a rich
man to enter the Kingdom of god! It is
much harder for a rich man to enter the
Kingdom of God than it is for a camel to go
through the eye of a needle." The disciples
said "who, then, can be saved?" Jesus said
"This is impossible for human beings, but
not for God; everything is possible for God."
Peter then aid "Look, we have left
everything and followed you." "But many
now who are first will be last, and many
who are last shall be first."
The Widow at the Treasury (Mk 12:41-44)
Jesus sat near the temple treasury. People came in and gave money, Many men came in
and gave a lot of money. One woman walked in and gave two copper coins that amounted to
about a penny. Jesus gathered his disciples and said "this poor widow gave more than the
others - for these men gave what they had to spare of their riches, but this woman, poor as
she is, gave all she had - she gave everything she had to live on."
The Greatest Commandments (Mk 12: 28-34)
A Teacher of the Law went to Jesus and asked "which is the most
commandment of them all?" Jesus replied "the most important one is
this: The Lord out God is the only Lord. Love him with all your heart,
with all your mind, with all your soul and with all your strength. The
second most important is this: Love your neighbor as you love
yourself." The Teacher of the Law said "Well done Teacher! It is most
important to love The Lord our God who is the only Lord, and to love
your neighbor as you love yourself. It is much more important to do
this than to offer animals and other sacrifices to God." Jesus saw how
wise his answer was and said "you are not far from the Kingdom of
God."
The Commission (Mk 16: 14-18)
Jesus appeared to the eleven and scolded them
because they didn't have faith and were too
stubborn to believe those who had seen Jesus alive.
"Go throughout the whole human race and preach
the gospel; those who believe and are baptized will
be saved, but those who do not believe will be
condemned. Believers will be given the power to
drive out demons, speak in strange tongues, pick up
snakes or drink poison and not be harmed, and put
their hands on sick people who will get well."
Peter's Promise and Denial (Mk 14: 26-31,
66-72)
"All of you will run away and leave me, for in the scriptures it says 'God
will kill the shepherd and the sheep will be scattered'." Peter answered
"I will never leave you, even if all the rest do!" Jesus said "I tell you, that
before the cock crows twice tonight you will deny me three times."
Peter then said more strongly "I will never leave you, even if I have to
die with you!"
A servant woman came by Peter and said, "You too, were with Jesus of Nazareth." Peter shook his head. "I don't
understand... I don't know who you are talking about." Just then, a cock crowed. The woman said to some
bystanders "he too is one of them!" but he denied it again. The bystanders said to him "you can't deny that you
are one of them because you, too, are from Galilee." But Peter said "I swear that I am telling the truth! May God
punish me if I am not! I do not know the man you are talking about!" Just then, the cock crowed twice. Peter
broke down and cried.
The Parable of the Mustard Seed (Mk 4: 30-32)
Jesus said "what shall we say the kingdom of God is like? It is
like this; a man takes a mustard seed, the smallest seed in the
world, plants it and it grows and becomes the biggest of all
plants. It puts out such large branches that birds come and
make nests in its shade.
The Parable of the Sower (Mk 4: 3-9, 14-20)
"Listen! There was once a man who sowed corn. He scattered seeds in a field, and some of it
fell on rocky ground, where the birds came and ate it up. Some of it fell on rocky ground, where
the there was little soil. The seeds sprouted because the soil wasn't deep, but the sun came
and burnt the young plants. Some seeds fell among thorn bushes, which choked the plants.
Some, however, feel on good soil, sprouted and grew corn; some thirty, some sixty and others a
hundred."
"Some are like the seeds that fall on along the path: Satan quickly comes and takes away the message. Others are like the seeds that
fall on rocky ground:they receive the message but as soon as persecution comes they give it up. Others still are like the seeds that fall
among thorn bushes; they hear the message, but worries about life, riches and other desires choke the message. But others are like the
seeds in good soil; they hear the message accept it and go on to bear fruit: some thirty, some sixty and others a hundred,"
