Childhood in the Kennedy
household was shaped largely by
the influence of JFK's father, Joseph,
an ambitious man who would
achieve great success both in
business and politics.
JFK spent his early
childhood in brookline.
He attended the
Prestigious Noble and
Greenough lower school -
A very rich school
with father Joe Sr.'s business ventures
concentrated in New York and Hollywood,
living in Boston no longer made sense, and
in September 1927 the family moved to a
rented mansion in Riverdale, New York.
For three years, JFK went to the Riverdale School; this was
followed by a year at the Catholic Canterbury School, in New
Milford, Connecticut.
in the fall of 1931, he enrolled in
Choate, a Connecticut boarding
school dominated by the old
Yankee aristocracy
while at Choate,
JFK was rather
rowdy and
disobedient and
he often found
him and his
friends in trouble
with school
authorities,
the family would often have
ambitious political conversations at
the dinner table
career
Elected in 1960 as the 35th president of the
United States, 43-year-old John F. Kennedy
became the youngest man and the first Roman
Catholic to hold that office.
Abandoning plans to be a journalist, John left the Navy
by the end of 1944. Less than a year later, he was back in
Boston preparing for a run for Congress in 1946.
