Resource summary

Neurons
  1. Shape of Neurons- although all serve the same function, they can vary in size/shape and types of information they communicate
    1. Multipolar neuron- lots of dendrite and inputs. Complex information.
      1. Bipolar neuron- two general projections. Passes information along.
        1. Monopolar neuron- one projection from the cell body. Can be a meter long. Simple communication (spinal cord)
        2. Sensory neuron- one end is highly sensitive to a specific stimulation
          1. Afferent axons- brings information into the body from the outside
          2. Motor neuron- soma is in the spinal cord. Receives excitation from other neurons and conducts impulses along an axon into a muscle
            1. Efferent axons- carries information away from the body to the outside
