Probability
Definition
SURE EVENT: when a event has a probability of 1 to occur
ELEMENTARY EVENT: event having only one outcome of the experiment
COMPLEMENTARY EVENT: For event E, complementary event P(ˉE) = 1- P(E)
EVENT: an outcome of a random experiment or an event is something that happened
IMPOSSIBLE EVENT : probability of event is equal to 0
Value
Sum of probability of all elementary events is 1. Eg: For events A, B and C P(A)+ P(B)+P(C)=1
Theoretical Probability
0≤P (E)≤ 1 or what we expect to happen in the experiment P(E) = Number of trials in which the event happened/ Total number of trials
Experimental Probability
what actually happens in an experiment P(E)= Number of outcomes favourable to E/ Number of possible outcomes of the experiment
Random Experiment: Such may result in two or more outcomes eg. tossing a coin or throwing a dice
SAMPLE SPACE:set of all possible outcomes of an experiment
EQUALLY LIKELY EVENT: the different outcomes have same and equal chance of occurrence
