Aim: to measure the amount of stress experienced by the
sawmill workers and to look for causal relationship on work
satisfaction and production
sample: 14 = high-risk workers,
10 = control group workers,
mean age of both groups = 38.4
Annotations:
High-risk workers: cut edged and graded the wood.
Control group: repair and maintenance workers.
All were shift workers and they were paid by a piece rate that was based on group performances.
method:quasi experiment
Annotations:
All workers fell naturally into the two groups as they were either high risk workers or repair and maintenance workers.
Procedure:Work measures collected 4 times a day through
urine test, body temp and self rating of mood and alertness
were taken during 1st or 2nd day of the working week and
compared with a day where workers were home; they were
asked to stay up as if they were at work.
