  1. Ballet- The basis for many other kinds of dance. It is the most technical and disciplined kind of dance.

    1. Lyrical- The less technical, faster paced version of ballet. It's very graceful and soothing.
      1. Contemporary- Contemporary is a form of lyrical that is more abstract (like modern) and uses sharper moves and more rigid transitions.
      2. Modern- Modern is the more abstract version of lyrical, where you make different shapes with your body and use way less techinicality.
      3. Jazz- This style of dance is an upbeat, usually happy style that allows for a lot of room to add your own personality into the style.
        1. Theater Jazz-This is a version of jazz that is seen on Broadway and in musicals and plays. This kind of dance relies heavily on the idea of acting and performing to portray a message or tell a story.
        2. Hip Hop- The most modern kind of dance that is commonly seen in music videos.
