Advantages
1. Share printers and share internet connections
2. same files are available on whichever computer
3. The same username and passwords can be used on any computer connected to the network

  1. advantage:cheap to install
  2. disadvantage:lots of collisions
2. Star
  1. advantage:easy to add new computers
  2. disadvantage:expensive
3. Ring
  1. Advantage: cheap to install
  2. disadvantage:high chance of catastrophic failure
IP addresses
1. An IP address is a unique value assigned to every computer on a network, used to identify it.
2. Messages on a network have an IP address attached, which is how a computer knows whether or not to keep the message.
