One of the ways that I attracted my audience is
through using a well known song.
I had originally chosen a soundtrack based on peer reviews but from asking a wide range of people the majority
of them preferred 'Hello'. This makes it different to all the science fiction movies because I didn't use the
stereotypical soundtrack people expect to hear in a sci-fi movie.
It still relates to the movie because the movie is about someone going into another
persons mind and the chorus of the song is 'Hello from the other side' and the
character is reliving the memories of her loved one.
It can be said that this brings pre audience.
Another method I used for attracting my audience is using young
actors and actresses.
This attracted the younger people because in some movies young people are often played by older people because they have 'more experience' .
However I wanted my movie to represent the target audience because they might feel like they can relate to the young actress and that they are being
well represented through the sibling rivalry that most teenagers face. But they never take it that step too far into actually killing their sibling.
I also used Roland Barthes Enigma code at the beginning because I introduced one male character at the beginning and one female
character. I didn't fully introduce them they were in the scene for less than six seconds. This would make the audience want to know
more about them and therefore keep on watching the movie.
I also used the third part of Richard Dyers Star theory which is the star as an ideology. This theory suggest that stars represent a
certain social group and views and with this is creates a certain ideology. As a result the audience will copy them and share the
same values. The paradox of the star explains that the star must be ordinary and extraordinary and the star must be present and
absent. Meaning that the star must be relatable but at the same time have an extraordinary aspect about them.
