The cerebral understanding of a threat activates the hypothalamus
Stimulates increased activity in the sympathetic nervous system and triggers the release of adrenaline from the adrenal medulla into the blood.
The hypothalamus releases CRF into the pituitary gland stimulating the release of ACTH.
This then stimulates the release of cortisols from the adrenal cortex
