Although our objective is to target both genders equally, the narrative
situation in the music video is based around the female having trust
issues with the male and the the lyrics can stereotypically be more
relatable towards females. However the artist may attract a male
audience as well because she is attractive and therefore this subjects
the audience to be a mixture of both male and female.
As a group we decided to target our music video
at the age range between 16-24, targetting both
female and male due to the lead roles being
played by both and be relatable. Due to the
narrative of the main characters dropping out
from university, we felt that this age range
would be able to relate to the problems
between the male and female, as relationships
tend to begin around 16 and univeristy ends
when youre around 21.
The core nationality of the audience would be British because the
song lyrics and the artist are British, and are signed to a British
record label. Secondary audiences would be English speaking
countries, for example America, Canada and Australia where english music is popular.
Due to the artist being current and young this will attract a
mass audience and fan base which will be accomplished by
usinga large amount of social networking to keep up with her
fans and to post videos and updates; because of this the
audience will have to be keen users of the internet and social
networking so that they will be able to find information such
as tour and release dates.
The core genre that our target audience
will prefer and relate to is Pop,
Contemporary R&B and Indie. They also
would be fans of romance and romantic
films because of the content of the lyrics,
the song is based around love and
romance and therefore it would make
sense for the audience to like both.
Our target audience would be keen to listen to music,
because our artist is young she will most likely be shown
on music channels such as MTV, and therefore our
audience will have to have an interest in watching music
videos and finding new artists and music. The target
audience will be known to Youtube as well so will find the
artists music video on there. Also this age range is likely to
be driving and listening to the radio; after listening to the
song they may be appealed to watch the music video.
