The Cult of Domesticity 1820
There were 4 ideals
Piety: Women were expected to practice religion.
Purity: Women must remain a virgin until marriage, if not she was no "women". She also had to stay with her husband.
Submissiveness: women were to be passive bystanders. She was required to wear certain clothing
Domesticity: Women were to take care of the home. She was to complete "uplifting tasks" such as cleaning and fulfilling her piety and purity
