In 1964 Douglas Engelbart (1925-2013), a researcher at Stanford Research Institute, wanted to find a way to make using computers easier. In those days, computers were large and expensive. Using them was very hard because everything had to be typed in by hand, and there was no way to alter things if you made a mistake. Most mice also have a "scroll wheel"—a small wheel found between the two main mouse buttons. The user can move the wheel back and forth to "scroll" through things like a website or folder.

The word camera comes from camera obscura, which means "dark chamber" and is the Latin name of the original device that was used back then to take a sort of photos and videos. The modern photographic camera evolved from the camera obscura. The functioning of the camera is very similar to the functioning of the human eye. This means when we look through a camera lense it is as if we are just looking through our own eyes because of how similar they are.
