Definitions
A quality possessed by individuals who are able to gain learning and achieve that are seen as desirable in a cultured person.
A quality possessed by some societies
A collective group of individuals which share similar Norms and values of society
The whole way of life of a group of people
Different types of culture
High culture- usually refers to cultural creations which have a particularly high status.
Folk culture- refers to the culture of ordinary people, usually those living in pre-industrial societies
Mass culture- less worthy than high culture or folk culture. It is a product of mass media and includes feature films, tv, soap operas etc.
Popular culture- Often used with a meaning similar to mass culture
Subculture- the term has been applied to a wide range of groups, including: those who live close together and have shared lifestyle etc.
