This is to be shown before films at cinemas
around the country, during adverts on
television and also during the advertisement
section before videos that are on internet.
I plan for my film to have a release date
of late autumn during the months August
and September.
Genre
My genre is psychological thriller
containing key elements such as
an unpredictable storyline,
abstract or imaginary danger
presented towards the main
character.
Target Audience
My trailer is aimed at 18 to 35
years old of both genders who
regularly watch psychological
thrillers and enjoy the mystery
involved within them.
Certification
I used the British Board of
Film Classification to help
decide the classification
The certification of my film
is 15 because of my film
trailer containing violence
that would not be suitable
for a 12 but is not violent
enough for an 18.
USP
The unique storyline which uses the
main characters guilty conscience as
the driving force for the film. It is also
that it has high profile stars featuring
in the film.
Conventions that
have been
followed
The setting of the trailer being
in the main characters house
and out in open spaces and car
parks where the desperate acts
of secrecy take place.
Themes of film being guilt and this theme driving
the film to try and make the audience feel sorry
for the key character when they shouldn't. The
final theme is desperation because that is what
she feel alongside the insanity because she
began to create a new life but her old life could be
revealed and she is desperate to keep it away
from everyone.
The iconography of my film trailer follows convention
because it goes with the desperation and the
accidental elimination of any threats to her secrets
whether it be kidnap or death due to her unsteady
mindset.
The film will also have low key lighting to
keep with the mystery that is involved with
a psychological thriller along with quick
and obtrusive editing to keep the viewers
interested and not reveal too much in a
single scene.
Conventions that have
been challenged
the film trailer will contain no
flashbacks because I do not want to
reveal what the main character did in
the film trailer to entice the audience in
to watch film and find out what she did
that she is trying to keep a secret so
badly.
The film trailer will not be
in black and white
because the low key
lighting will not be as
effective if the film is in
black and white
Ideology
The untrusting
nature that the
main character has
in law and order
because of her
past and that she
is alone in the
situation and will
have to deal with
everything without
the police.
Issues with
representation
These will be around the main character
changing her past from what it was and
that the audience should feel sorry for
her even though she is reverting back to
her old life in order to keep her previous
life away from everyone.
Production and Distribution
I chose for my film to be assigned
to Newmarket Films for production because they
specialise in producing diverse films.
My film will be distributed by Summit
Entertainment because they are a
regular distributor for Newmarket Films
and have distributed similar films like
mine.
Plot Synopsis
Jessica Owens has a guilty conscience from an act she committed
in her past before she became a new person. She believes that her
secret has been discovered due to anonymous letters but she
doesn’t know who is committing these acts. She tries to figure out
who knows and what they know and is driven to lengths that she
would not go to in order to discover who knows. She reverts back to
her old ways that she has the guilty conscience over in order to keep
it a secret. Her mind begins to play tricks on her and she starts to
see things that she believes are real and begins to act on these
impulses. She suspects that it may be her close friends Eva
Lawrence and Maddie Barrett but also suspects her next door
neighbour Rosie Edwards.
