Transpiration:
· Transpiration is the loss of water vapour from the leaves of the plants.
Water is absorbed from the soil into the plant through the roots via the process osmosis.
How Plants Grow
Branching roots and hairs give a huge surface area for absorption of water via osmosis form the soil and ensure close contact with the soil.
Examples of how plants reduce water loss such as
thick outer coating (cuticle) on leaves, reduced leaves, dropping leaves in times of drought
