The evolution of the atmosphere
Volcanoes gave out gases
Things cooled down a bit & a thin crust is formed but volcanoes gave out lots of gas. Including carbon dioxide, water vapour and nitrogen
According to this theory the early atmosphere was formed with mostly co2 and water vapour wit hno oxygen.
The oceans formed when the water vapour condensed into oceans when the earth cooled.
Earths surface was originally molten for millions of years. it was so hot that any atmosphere just boiled away into space.
Complex organisms evolved
Virtually no co2 left now
Built up of oxygen in the atmosphere killed off some early organisms.
