Immunisation
  1. Antibodies can be found in the cell membranes of white blood cells.
    1. When a virus infects, the body produces many lymphocytes.
      1. Each has a slightly different shaped antibody (due to mutations in the gene for the antibody protein).
        1. The lymphocyte with the most closely fitting antibody then divides quickly to attack all of the virus cells.
          1. The lymphocyte with the correct antibody is then converted into a memory cell.
            1. This memory cell allows the body to produce antibodies quickly if the body is infected with the same virus.
              1. The memory cell can survive for around 10 years.
