    1. We know about ancient Rome through sources such as buildings (the Colosseum), statues, frescoes, writers (Cicero) and artefacts
      1. All Roman men wore knee-length tunics; male citizens of Rome also wore togas. Women wore dresses called stolas and wraps called pallas
        1. Poor people lived in poor accommodation at the tops of apartment blocks called insulae. A rich family might live in a villa in the country or in a city domus, which would include a reception area called an atrium, and a shaded garden called a peristylium
