  1. The internet
    1. A worldwide network of computers that are connected together
      1. Examples- Firefox, safari, Netscape and internet
    2. Unique Resource Locator (URL)
      1. This is made up of a domain name and a filename.
        1. example: http://www.pcsecurityreference.com/email-attachments.html
      2. Research
        1. They use the internet to research other companies to see how they are runned
          1. Advantages: can look at competitors websites and helps them keep up to date.
            1. Dis advantages: The website could be not up to date and may not be reliable
        2. Communication
          1. The way companies or employees get in contact with eachother
            1. Examples: email, social networking, chatrroms etc.
              1. Advantages: Its much quicker than post, its cheaper, emails are easier to follow drift, encryption can be used to confidential emails
                1. Dis advantages: Emails can be sent to wrong person, email systems can be hacked, can be put in the junk mail and the technology is needed.
          2. Obtaining suppliers
            1. Getting their suppliers via the internet
              1. Advantages : you get more of a variety and can be time saving
                1. Disadvantages: They could not look like their photo, could be a scam and unreliable.
            2. E- commerce
              1. A system that allows customers to access a business website to obtain goods or services
                1. Examples: e-book by amazon
                  1. Advantages: larger target audience and always open/avaliable
                    1. Dis advantages: Need certain equipment, sellers may need storage space and time.
              2. Online booking
                1. reserving and booking via the internet
                  1. Examples: Cinema, flights and train tickets
                    1. Advantages: you are guarantee a place, security
                      1. Disadvantages: can cost more money and may not be able to cancel
                2. Online auctions
                  1. Auctioning products online for sellers or buyers
                    1. Example: EBAY
                      1. Advantages: larger target audience and can be time saving
                        1. Disadvantage: may cost you money to sell on that website and you cant see what your buying
                  2. Having a website
                    1. Advantages: can reach more people and is affordable and open 24/7
                      1. Disadvantages: need time to develop databases, must always have stock, not all customers use to internet,
