Infringements
Literal Meaning...
Action contrary to the Rules that may be penalised by an umpire
My Definition.....
An action which the umpire calls out to be opposing to the rules of the game (NETBALL)
The Types of Infringments ....
The Ones I Know Are....
Obstruction
Players must be 3ft apart from the player with the ball when defending or intercepting
If you wish to jump when intercepting a pass, you must not just in front of the 3ft distance or it's called obstruction.
You will be penalised if your arm is constantly in front of the player your marking
Footwork
When receiving the ball... the foot you land with must not move or that is footwork.
You must only pivot on the foot that you landed on
Over a Third
The ball gets past beyond on Third of the court without being touched
Contact
Physical contact with opposing player - which restricts the players ability to move freely
Pushing, knocking over, hitting (types)
Repossession
A player is not allowed to reply the ball
If the player loses control of the ball, they cannot pick it up before it has touched another player
Players cannot throw the ball in the air and catch it before it has touched another player
Also rebound from a shot on goal without it having touched the post or another placer is repossession
Short Pass
When a player passes the ball it must be a sufficient space apart from the other player in the team
There must be enough space of an opposing player on the court to be able to intercept the ball whilst it's moving from player to player
Held Ball
If the ball is held over 3 seconds then it is called held ball.
