Germany had to accept blame for starting the war
Germany had to pay reparations of £6,600 million
German army was limited to 100,000 men
Conscription was banned
Only 6 battleships were allowed
Armoured vehicles, submarines and aircrafts were banned
The Rhineland was demilitarised
A League of Nations was to be set up - Germany was not invited
Germany suffered the loss of substantial amounts of land
Alsace-Lorraine was returned to France
The Saarland was to be administered to the League for 15 years, then a plebiscite was to be held
North Schleswig was given to Denmark after a plebiscite
West Prussia, Posen and parts of Upper Silesia were given to Poland
Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania became independent states
Anschluss was forbidden
The German colonies became mandates and were controlled by Britain and France
