static electricity is a charge you get when you rub a balloon.

two objects the same charge repel each other.two objects with opposite charge attract each other.

the rate of flow of electrical charge is called the current.

metals conduct electricity because they contain delocalised electrons which move freely inside the metal.

a conductor can only hold a charge if it is insulated from the ground . if it isnt insulated it wont hold any charge because the electrons transfer  between the conductor and the ground.

If the object is positively charged, electrons transfer to the conductor to the object

if object is negatively charged, they have gained electrons

to discharge a charged

to discharge a charged conductor safely, a conducting path needs to be provided so the electrons can transfer between the object and the ground.

the electro static paint sprayer are used to paint metal panels. they spray nozzle is connected to a positive terminal of an electro static generator. The negative terminal is connected to the metal panel. the panel attracts paint droplets from the spray. the droplets of paint all pick up the same charge and repel each other so they spread out equally.

problems could be:a build up of charge could cause a spark, leading to explosions. To eliminate static energy we use antistatic materials, and earth metal pipes and objects.
