Describe two differences between feminist and functionalist theories. One difference between feminist and functionalist theories is that functionalism believes that society is characterised by harmony and stability. They argue that society must work together in order to function effectively. Feminism, on the other hand, believes that society is characterised by conflict between men and women. Feminists believe society is a patriarchy where men have full control over what happens in society. Another difference between feminist and functionalist theories is that functionalism believes values are agreed upon through a 'value consensus'. A value consensus is shared values which are created by the whole of society. Feminism does not believe that a value consensus exists and argues that values are imposed on women, by men, due to patriarchy.
