CORINTHIANS- Paul and CorinthCorinth was a commercial and merchant hub and was therefore also prone to corruption and sin.Tremendous need for the gospel and great place to start a church etc. (Ch.1v11) "I have been informed there are quarrels amongst you" (Ch.1v2)- The Value of the Corinthian LettersHow the church must respond and bring the church back to the teachings of Jesus and the mission to which God has called us in which the churches identity is founded. 2 Corinthians deals with the authority of Paul.-The Purpose of 1 Corinthians(Ch.1v10) "i'm writing this letter that you find unity as the body of Christ" He points out the dividing issues then shows the unifying aspects. His main point is to create unity. Instead of meeting on issues....meet at the cross of Christ.1 CORINTHIANSISSUES- Divisions- Immorality- Food Sacrificed to Idols- Disorder in Worship (Ch.11)- The Resurrection- The Cross of Christ- 1:13, 17, 18. 2:2, 3:1, 6:11, 15:3-4The cross is the Basis of Unity in the church, instead of fighting over issues, bring each other to the cross- The Resurrection- Love
