The Korean War

After WW2: the Japanese were driven out of Korean and the US pulled the majority of its troops out of Korea. The Soviet Union occupied North Korean, US occupied South Korea June 25 1950: North Korea invades South Korea. June 27 1950: President Truman sends in Americans soldiers stationed in Japan United Nations sneds an international force into South Korean September 1950: North Koreans are in control of all Korea Small fleet of marines are landed behind North Korean lines and UN chases North Korean army to Korean/Chinese border Chinese pour into Korea with 30 000 soldiers and push UN back. War escalates into a fight mainly between Americans and Chinese July 1953: North Korea and South Korea sign a cease fire agreement. War costs approx. 5 mill. lives. Results in very minor changes to the border
