Last week we tried working with “DOF” (Depth Of Field). This week, we are going to work at getting good angles and backgrounds. There are a few ways to get good angles, and that’s by trial and error. Why? You need to try one angle, look through the camera (we try not to view our pictures too much as its most important to get the next shot before it disappears!!). When you see something you like, or something which draws you into the picture, capture it. Move a little, and do the same, until you have your “perfect picture”. How can you get these “perfect pictures”? A few things are needed, and one of them is a good background. Why is a good background so important? Good backgrounds provide better pictures, and they draw you into the picture. You want people to be so captivated by the picture you take so they take a quick glance, and enjoy what they see so much, that they don’t notice any other in the room. What are bad backgrounds? They are simply things taking you away from the picture. For example, you have a person standing somewhere and you are preparing to take their picture - yet you notice there is a tree behind the person and the the tree is noticeable taking you away from the picture. Cars. Sticks. Anything weird that is in focus. Or even noticeable. Sometimes they are okay, but it all depends on what kind of a picture you are taking.
