I, Too,Sing America Langston Hughes, 1902 - 1967 I, too, sing America. I am the darker brother. They send me to eat in the kitchen When company comes, But I laugh, And eat well, And grow strong. Tomorrow, I’ll be at the table When company comes. Nobody’ll dare Say to me, “Eat in the kitchen," Then. Besides, They’ll see how beautiful I am And be ashamed— I, too, am America.
ANCH’IO CANTO L'AMERICA James Langston Hughes, 1902-1967 Anch’io canto l’America. Io sono il fratello più scuro. Mi mandano a mangiare in cucina Quando vengono gli ospiti, Ma io rido E mangio bene, E divento forte. Domani, Siederò a tavola Quando vengono gli ospiti. Nessuno oserà Dire di me, «Mangia in cucina», Allora. E poi, Vedranno come sono bello E si vergogneranno: Anch’io sono l’America
