ABC Recording A = Antecedent An Event that occurs immediately prior to a problem behaivour.Environmental Conditions Instructions Request Physical Discomfort People Noise Conditions Or Context Time Class Subject/ Topic Person Activity Demand or Task Request Tips:Make sure to give description of the setting or context in which the targeted behaviours occur.Example :Monday: May 6/ language arts class. The teacher handed back the writtenassignments on The Outsiders. Jason had a low mark. B = Behaviour Behaviours are a response to a request ,which can be words or actions demonstrated by the studentBehaviour Hitting Screaming Biting Running away Ripping up Paper Tips: describe in objective, measurable terms how the student behaved specify exactly what the student said or did Example: Jason looked at his mark and threw his paper, hitting another student. C = Consequence An immediate response to a behaviour. Teacher Attention Peer Attention Successful escape from task Recorded consequence should contain a description of What they obtained what they avoided staff or peer attention verbal feedback change in setting Tips: Record a single chain of events to accurately record a behaviour Make observations specific enough so you can use the information Example:Jason was asked to apologize to the student but he refused so he wasgiven a noon hour detention.
