Religious and non-religious worship

Symbols in Christianity
I think people use symbols instead of words because it is easier to remember. It is more difficult to remember a sentence or two rather than having a symbol as a sort of prompt, so that the words can be remembered. I think symbols are more effective because it only takes a glance to see a symbol, so if you are say driving, it will be harder to read words than see a symbol. Symbols can be recognised by everyone of different languages.

MeaningCan be used to symbolise different things. God's spirit. PeaceCrucifix. Jesus' sacrifice. Forgiveness of sins. Recall Christ's death and resurrection.
