Science: DigestionAlimentary canal parts: Mouth: Food is chewed into smaller pieces for increased surface area for further digestion while (carbohydrase) salivary amylase enzymes break starch to maltose. Oesophagus: Food is pushed down via contractions of muscular movements Stomach: Food is churned to enhance digestion while protease enzymes breaks protein into amino acids, producing hydrochloric acid on the other hand to destroy bacteria and provides an acidic environment Liver: Produces bile to emulsify fats which breaks fats into simpler pieces making it easier for further digestion Gall Bladder: Stores bile Pancreas: Produces pancreatic juices which mainly consists of enzymes that break down most food into substances that the body can use.
