Lesson 01Speaking Korean ** 90% of Korean grammar is endings markers / particles verb conjugations Subject markers 은 / 는 only connect to nouns important because Korean sentences do not have to always be in the same order subjects and objects are denoted by markers These do not have any translation into English There should not be a space between the noun and the marker When to put 은 vs 는 If the noun ends in a consonant, use 은 Examples: 책은 창문은 if the noun ends in a vowel, use 는 Examples: 고양이는 저는 Ending to Verbs (using 이다) 이다 translates to English as “to be” (identification) there is a verb stem / root / meaning 이 there is an ending that denotes tense / aspect / honorifics / politeness / etc. - 다 (dictionary / infinitive form) this is an irregular verb 이다 acts as a marker, so no spaces between noun the verb is referencing and 이다 Examples: 저는 아만다예요. 선생님이에요. when using the formal polite ending, the noun ending in a vowel or consonant does not matter. Only for the Informal polite ending. Formal InformalPolite 입니다 이에요 / 예요Impolite
