EUTHANASIA

KEY TERMS-Ethical - Observing or practicing certain accepted standards of moral behavior. Euthanasia- Literal meaning is 'easy death'. The termination of life to relieve a suffering/ill individual.-Active - when something is done deliberately to end a patients life. E.g- poison, lethal injection.-Passive - when a patient dies because something is not done that is necessarily to keep them alive. E.g- withdrawal of medication, life support switched off.-Voluntary- When a patient chooses to die.-Non-voluntary - when the family or doctor has to decide as the patient is unable to, this can be due to a coma.
