8 July 1853, US Comodore Perry arrived with warships to Japan.
1854-The Tokugawa Shonugate agreed to the Treaty of Kanagawa.
Japan´s policy of seclusion ended after 200+ years.
Meiji Restoration, 1868
Shishi (men high purpose).
Yoshida Shoin: Shishi leader, member of the Choshu Clan.
Western Interference continue to grow.
Choshu attacked US vessels from shore.
1866- The emperor died and was replaced by emperor Meiji.
After some fighting, the Satsuma- Choshu clans were victorious.
After 1868 the imperial system continued without interruptions.
