Men and women are equal in society --> So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. --> Men and women are mentioned as being equal in the Genesis story suggesting that there's no difference between them in the eyes of God. Marriage is a lifelong commitment (sense of dedication to someone) --> Therefore, what God has joined together, let no one separate --> Jesus states that marriage is a bond that God has made and no earthly power can separate it. Cohabitation is frowned upon --> Your body is a temple of the holy spirit --> Cohabitation promotes having sex outside the marriage therefore devaluing the nature of sex (Catholic). Quakers are for cohabitation as they believe that if a relationship is one of love them it's okay. Divorce isn't accepted --> Marriage is a sacrament that cannot be broken unless the situation is serious --> Divorce isn't recognised Remarriage isn't accepted --> Do not commit adultery --> Remarriage is seen as adultery in God's eyes as the couple are still married Catholics don't accept contraception --> Go forth and increase in number --> Catholics don't allow use of artificial contraception as the purpose of sex is for procreation. Adultery is always wrong --> Anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery --> Just by thinking lustfully about a woman is seen as adultery to Catholics.  Purpose of sex is to reproduce --> Go forth and increase in number  --> Catholics believe that the purpose of sex is to reproduce rather than for recreation. This is done inside the marriage Quakers have celebrated same sex marriages since 1983 Catholics do not believe in same sex marriages as procreation isn't available

Adultery is wrong --> Do not commit unlawful sexual intercourse ... it is evil in its way --> Marriage is life long and is based on trust, if adultery is committed then this ruins it as it's a form or theft Same sex relationships are forbidden --> If you approach men with desire, instead of women then truly you are a transgressing person --> Sex should only take place between man and woman as the purpose is the procreateM Men and women are equal --> O mankind, fear your lord, who created you from one soul --> Everyone is created from one soul, therefore making men and women equal

Intelligent Design --> Belief that everything is too complex to have come by chance so there must be intelligence behind it Creationism --> The world was created in 6 days  Liberal view of Darwin --> Accept it as they know that science can teach things that the Bible can't  Evangelical view of Darwin --> See it as an attack on their belief. Evolution developed by chance but the Bible states that God created everything                   Humans are above animals --> The Lord God formed man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life --> There's no mention of animals having souls Citizenship --> God put Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden to care for it --> Liberal Christians believe that this shows we have a duty to look after the earth  Ending life is wrong --> Thou shall not kill --> Reason against abortion  Imago Dei --> We're in the image of God so all life is sacred  Abortion is wrong --> Before i formed you in the womb i knew you  --> Life begins at conception  Abortion is accepted if there's a specific circumstance  Suffering brings you closer to Jesus as he suffered for us We will be resurrected --> I am the resurrection and the life --> Reminds them that Jesus resurrected so they will too

And do not kill a soul which God has forbidden, except by legal right --> Allah created life so Allah should be the one to end it Fear God and know that God sees all that you do --> When it's judgement day, God will decide whether you go to heaven or hell based upon the life he's seen you lead

Theory of evolution --> People have evolved from monkeys and Adam and Eve didn't exist No belief in the soul or afterlife but believe that life is valuable as it's an opportunity to live with compassion and respect  Not allowing euthanasia harms more people as quality of life is valued highly Deny the existence of the soul as there's no scientific proof of it

Conscience = inner voice guiding one's sense of right and wrong --> It's God given  Punishment  Protection --> Used in order to keep people safe Deterrent --> Punishment is meant to keep people away from wanting to commit crime Retribution --> Eye for and eye, tooth for a tooth, life for a life --> Getting even is the only way for victims to feel as if justice is done. In the old testament God told the Israelites to seek justice in the form of equal punishment Reform --> Love thy neighbour --> Looks to address the reason for pursing crime in the form of therapy Restorative justice --> Let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never falling stream --> Enables criminals to make amends for their behaviour by meeting the victim and apologising to them. Christians believe in forgiveness  Taking a life is worthy of the death penalty --> Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood shed --> God created humans in his image so taking a life is a crime worthy of the death penalty For capital punishment: Life in prison is expensive Some people can't be reformed Gives the victims closure Protects society from danger Against capital punishment  It's murder People can sometimes be innocent Only God can end a life Forgiveness is important  Goes against human rights  Believe in forgiveness --> Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us --> The Lord's Prayer tells Christians that if they want to be forgiven they they have to forgive others Equal treatment -->Blessed are the merciful for they will be shown mercy --> If you show forgiveness then you will be forgiven by God

Protection of society is the main concern for them so punishments should deter and protect people from crime Capital punishment is accepted --> Protect the ummah --> Ummah (Muslim society) should be protected so if capital punishment helps that then it's okay

All are worthy of respect --> Let us make mankind in our own image --> All humans are made like God, therefore worthy of respect and should always be valued Agape love --> Christians should suffer pain and death for the benefit of others without anything in return Equality and no discrimination --> For there is neither Jew nor Gentile, slave nor free, male nor female, we are all on in Christ --> No matter who we are, we are all equal to God Tithe --> You should give 10% of everything to charity to care for the less fortunate   Caring for the poor shows your love for God

Equality --> We are all equal as the teeth of a comb --> All are equal and humans shouldn't discriminate against others Zakah --> Everyone should 2.5% of surplus income to charity to support the less fortunate
