PL-100: TECH Act (1988) | *Defines AT; as any piece of equipment used to improve the functional capabilities in individuals with disabilities. *Provides the services necessary to use that equipment. |
PL 101: IDEA (1990) | *Established the requirement of an ITP, Individualized Transition Plan (by age 16). *AT must be provided if the IEP team determines that it is needed. * Also added Autism and Traumatic Brain Injury to the 'discrete disability cat.' |
PL-105: IDEA (1997) | *Students with disabilities are required to participate in district and state-wide assessments. *General educators are required to participate on the IEP team. |
PL-108: IDEA Improvement Act (2004) | *Parental consent is not required for the referral but is required for the formal evaluation process. *AT will be provided to students at NO COST except Cochlear Implants, which have been removed from eligible AT. *Stipulates that students with print disabilities are provided with accessible instructional materials. |

RTI (Response To Intervention) | An RTI is a multi-tiered approach to the early identification of students who may have learning/behavioral needs. *RTI's are primarily language based. *There is no time limit for an RTI. |
504 Plan | Is a plan for how the school will provide support for a student with a disability. *A 504 is put in place if the students disability isn't covered under IDEA. *This is supported by Section 504. |
IEP (Individualized Education Plan) | Is a plan for a child with disabilities who is eligible for Special Education under IDEA. |
