Questão Responda
How long does it take the moon to revolve around the Earth? 27.322 days
Why do stars appear to move in the sky? Due to the movement they make and the revolution of the Earth, they seem to move in the night sky.
What fraction of the Earths size is the moon? 1/4 of the size
How long is the Earth's orbit around the Sun? 365 and 1/4 days
Why does the Moon appear to be the same size as the Sun? Because the Sun is 400 times the size of the moon but they are 400 times the distance from the Earth.
What direction does the Sun appear to rise and set:? The sun appears to rise in the East and set in the west.
How are shadows in the winter in the Northern Hemisphere different than those in the summer? They are different because depending on the direct or indirect sunlight, the sun is higher or lower in the sky.
During which season does the Sun appear higher in the sky? It appears higher in summer.
During which season are shadows shorter? Why? Summer because the angle is more direct compared to winter.
What is an equinox? A day in between the solstices. It is where day and night are equal in hours.
Why is the North Star important? Because it provides a marker in the sky for the Northern Hemisphere for the Earth's tilt on its axis.
What season is the Southern Hemisphere experiencing when we have summer in the Northern Hemisphere> The Southern Hemisphere experiences winter
During which season does the Sun appear to rise the latest and set earliest? During winter when you are receiving indirect sunlight.
When the Earth is tilted towards the Sun, what season is being experienced in the Northern Hemisphere and Southern Hemisphere? Summer is experienced in the Northern Hemisphere and Winter in the Southern Hemisphere because the Northern Hemisphere is receiving direct sunlight when it is pointing in the direction of the sun and vice versa with the Southern Hemisphere.
What are two reasons that the Sun-Earth system creates seasons? Because throughout the Revolution different sides of the Earth face the Sun at different times. (direct/indirect sunlight) This causes one area of the globe to be warm for a period of the time while on the other side it is cold for a period of time.
