What is Active Euthanasia? | When it is carried out by a doctor performing a deliberate action like an injection. |
What is Passive Euthanasia? | When Medical treatment or life support is withdrawn or when a severl ill person is not given treatment to help them surviva. |
Arguments FOR Euthanasia? | Allow the patient to die a gentle, pain-free death. The patient dies with Dignity It saves medical costs Staff can aid someone with more chance of recovery Relieves the family burden |
Arguments AGAINST Euthanasia? | Sanctity of Life Slippery Slope - if its legalised, many other would legalise,lessening the value of life. Some people may be pressurised into choosing euthanasia Hospices provide alternative care, so euthanasia isn't needed Doctors could be wrong about diagnosis Helping someone suicide means to live with that guilt for the rest of their life. |
