We use notes to represent musical sounds. Notes are symbols that are placed on the lines and spaces of the staff to represent the pitch and duration of a sound. The placement of notes indicates the highness or lowness of their pitch. Image: Treble Clef Notes Staff (image/jpeg)	In both treble and bass staves, the note middle C is a very important landmark. Notes are identified using the letters of the musical alphabet: Letters A-G Clefs, from the french word cle (key), are placed on the staff to define the specific pitch of one of the lines. Types of clefs: Treble Clef - also known as the G clef, identifies the second line note G by circling around it. Bass Clef - Is also known as the F clef, identifies the fourth line as the note F by placing 2 dots on either side of it.
