Questão Responda
what is meant by a quaternary structure? large proteins that contain prosthetic groups
what is the role of haemoglobin? to transport oxygen
how is haemoglobin adapted to its function? the function of haemoglobin is to transport oxygen around the body and unload and load it where it is needed. It is adapted to its function because it is able to change shape in regions of different pH which allow it to unload oxygen easier.
In terms of haemoglobin, what does high affinity mean? it takes up oxygen easily and releases it less readily
in terms of haemoglobin, what does a low affinity for oxygen mean? it takes up oxygen less easily and releases more readily.
in what direction does an oxygen dissociation curve move if haemoglobin has a high affinity for oxygen? to the left
in what direction does the oxygen dissociation curve move if the oxygen has a low affinity for oxygen? to the right
