Questão | Responda |
Punishment | When a response is followed immediately by a stimulus change that decreases the future frequency of similar responses. ***PUNISHMENT SHOULD BE PAIRED WITH REINFORCEMENT |
punisher | a stimulus change that immediately follows the occurrence of a behavior and reduces the future frequency of that type of behavior. |
Possitive punishment (type1) | when the presentation of a stimulus (or an increase in the intensity of an already present stimulus) immediately following a behavior results in the decrease in the frequency of the behavior. e.g. saying no, providing a strike, electric shock) |
Negative punishment (type 2) | the termination of an already present stimulus (or decrease in the intensity) immediately following a behavior results in the decrease of frequency. e.g. removal of tokens, or loss of a privilege. |
unconditioned punishers | stimulus whose presentation functions as punishment without having been paired with any other punisher. aka primary or unlearned. Typically biological events like bad tastes, odors, or painful stimulation. |
Conditioned Punishers | A stimulus change that functions as punishment as a result of a person's conditioned history. aka secondary or learned. e.g. "no!", lectures, tones. |
Potential Punishment proceedures | Response blocking, saying no, contingent exercise, token removal, loss of privileges, overcorrection (restitution, positive practice), time out from reinforcement, electric shock. |
considerations when using punishment | immediacy, intensity/magnitude, schedule, teach replacement behavior, request additional supervision, in combination with reinforcement, take data |
