Activated Charcoal (Classification) Antidote and Adsorbent.
Activated Charcoal (Action) Some chemicals and toxins will attach to the surface of the charcoal and become trapped.
Activated Charcoal (Indications) Toxic ingestion.
Activated Charcoal (Adverse Effects) Nausea/vomiting, constipation or diarrhea. Fatal form of pneumonia if aspirated.
Activated Charcoal (Contraindications) Acids, alkalis, ethanol, methanol, cyanide, ferrous sulfate/iron salts, lithium, coma and GI obstruction.
