Why was society afraid of witches? | People were afraid of witches because of the powers they possessed. Witches were known to be evil and working with the devil, most people feared that these witches would inflict evil on them and their loved ones. However, there were people who never feared witches. |
How were witches punished? | In the seventeenth century, if you were suspected of being a witch or practicing witchcraft, you would be arrested and put on trial. Those found guilty would either be burned at stake, hanged or exiled. |
