Questão Responda
simple random sampling samples in which each element of the population has an equal probability of being selected
stratified random sampling rely on knowledge of the distribution or proportion of population characteristics to choose a sample that assures representativeness of these characteristics
proportionate stratified sampling sample subjects are chosen in the same ratio that exists within the population
disproportionate stratified sampling oversampling is conducted with a larger proportion of certain groups to ensure that enough cases of those groups are included in the research
cluster sampling the population to be studied is divided into clusters (census tracts, blocks, sections) and then a probability sample of clusters is selected for the study
systematic sample when every 'Nth' item in a list is included in the sample
multistage sampling a combination of stratified, cluster, simple random samples, and/or other sampling procedures
nonprobability samples any sampling procedure that violates the EPSEM (Equal probability of selection method)
quota samples nonprobability stratified samples; the researcher attempts to ensure that the sample proportions resemble those of the population, but does not fill these proportions or quotas on the basis of EPSEM
accidental samples "person on the street" Interviews. the researcher makes little attempt to ensure representativeness of the sample ***Not a good sample method
purposive samples represent the selection of an appropriate sample based on the researcher's skill, judgement, and needs
focus groups consists of purposively selected volunteers in order to measure reactions to or attitudes
snowball sampling obtaining a first subject and, on the basis of this subject, obtaining an introduction to a second subject, and so on
variables list the concepts or variables to be measured are listed along with the numbers of the questions that purport to measure them.
dummy tables preliminary blank tables constructed prior to data gathering that suggest type of data needed, as well as the type of data analysis. They act to ensure that the data needed are obtained before the fact.
pretest exploratory testing of the instrument by testing subjects who are similar to the group to be studied.
mail survey self-administered respondent mail back variety
follow-up continued efforts to solicit responses
offering renumeration involves offering rewards or incentives to survey participants
self-report surveys data-gathering methods which involve asking respondents to admit to various behavior
