Questão Responda
What does heat refer to? heat refers to a process of transfer of energy between a system and its surroundings other than by work or transfer of matter.
What is heat measured in? The quantity of energy transferred as heat is a scalar measured in energy units such as the the joule (J)
What is Maxwell's first stipulation for the definition of heat? It is something which may be transferred from one body to another, according to the second law of thermodynamics.
What is Maxwell's second stipulation for the definition of heat? It is a measurable quantity, and thus treated mathematically.
What is Maxwell's third stipulation for the definition of heat? It cannot be treated as a substance, because it may be transformed into something that is not a substance, e.g., mechanical work.
What is Maxwell's fourth stipulation for the definition of heat? Heat is one of the forms of energy
What is latent heat? Latent energy is the energy possessed via a distancing of particles where attraction was over a greater distance, i.e. a form of potential energy
What is sensible heat? Sensible heat as an energy involving the motion of particles or what was known as a living force.
